Bliss on a Wednesday Morning

Today is one of those days where I simply breathe happiness, I can’t stop smiling neither can I stop expressing how different I feel this morning. I woke up this morning to one of my favorite songs by Hillsong, I will look to you. While listening to this song I felt nothing but joy in my heart. As the song ended I opened my woman devotional, stared reading and finished with a short morning prayer, as I closed my devotional book I sigh, and whispered to myself “WOW, I’m in love with you Lord, I love you!” 21 years of my life and I’d never felt this way, I would really like to describe to ya’ll what I felt, but it’s just indescribable.

With that said I couldn’t help to bow my head and begin praying once again.

I prayed:

Dear heavenly Father You are great, You are love, magnificent, You are simply breathtaking. I know you are the one responsible for this cheerfulness of mine I feel this morning, and I hope it’s an all-day feeling because it feels amazing. I want to thank You for my well-being, the opportunity of life, and for placing this spark of sunshine in me. Thank you for placing me on the right path and for surrounding me with awesome people, but most importantly people who love you and want to work for you as much as I do. Help me to keep seeking You daily, and never get over this stage I find myself in right now. Use me, help me reflect and share this love to others. I really can’t imagine my life without You and I wouldn’t like others to miss out in this never ending endearment you have towards us.  I don’t have enough words to express how grateful I am with You.

In Jesus name, Amen.

Your plan vs. His plan

When I was little I wanted to be a teacher. By the age of 14 I wanted to be a Psychologist. When I hit 18 I was sure I wanted to be a nurse. I am now a junior in college and never thought I’d soon graduate a Social Work major, and that is one of the magnificent things about God; even when we don’t know what’s in our future, He does.

For the past year my plans have changed, I would say, hmmmm… approximately more than 20 times. Sometimes I found myself frustrated, disappointed, or even overwhelmed with failed plans. These were plans that I wanted to be successful in, unfortunately I wasn’t. I thought these plans were in my hands, that I had full control of them, until I realized that wasn’t the case.  It never crossed my mind there were other plans, plans that had been written for me even before I was born.

One day while reading my bible I happen to bump into certain verses that stuck in my head, a verse that made me realize my plans weren’t up to me.

We may make our plans, but God has the last word. Proverbs 16:1

The preparation of the heart belongs to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.  Proverbs 16:1

God’s plans are always good, never harmful. We may not always understand God’s plan for us. At times we may feel confused and lost with what he wants from us. But how can we get a closer understanding of His plans?  There are 4 steps I took that lead me to a better understanding.

Ask: Do you desire wisdom? James 1:5 tells us, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” When we try to figure things out on our own, there is a 50% chance we will make the wrong decision, so why not ask the One and only who gets it right the first time?

Be faithful: God wants us to believe in Him, to trust Him with all our hearts. Whatever the situation may be He wants us to stay faithful to Him and His works. James 1:6 “But when you ask you must believe, and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”

Listen: Keep up with your daily bible studies, devotionals, spiritual connection with our Lord. God speaks to us in different ways, through His scriptures and Holy Spirit. He never fails to send us signals; we just have to be attentive and try to strengthen our relationship with Him. ALWAYS consult with Him before taking any initiative. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” We just have to listen.

Wait & Be Patient: God has the perfect timing. He knows the what, when, and where. I totally understand waiting may not always be the easiest but it’s essential. We have to learn to work with God’s timing, to be obedient and patient. Romans 12:12 reminds us of patience, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”

Just last year, I began to see how everything was starting to fall into place. To this day, I feel happy with what I’ve accomplished. I never thought I’d be the person I am today. The different choices God has taken me to make have molded me to be a Godly woman, the circumstances I’ve had to confront have made me emotionally stronger with God’s guidance, and all these unexpected events I’ve lived have given me the opportunity to experience and gain memories, but most importantly, they’ve helped me strengthen my relationship with God and has made my faith grow daily. It’s consistency, persistence and love towards God that has taken me to be as He wants me to be and to do what He wants me to do.

Just let God use you, teach you and guide you.

Is it really LOVE?

Have you ever been in love? Really in love?

Wait, do you know what real love feels like? Is the definition of love clear to you? Would you be able to define “love“?

What do you feel when you’re made aware of the violence we are surrounded by? The neglect, abuse, divorces, homelessness, etc.? Do you react with joyful smile? Or on the contrary, is it pity, unhappiness or a heartbreaking feeling that causes your heart to tremble for a second?

What do you feel when you see the cross? That cross where Jesus Christ was crucified? What does it symbolize?

It symbolizes the great love God had for us! LOVE.

For God loved so much the world that he gave his one and only son… (John 3:16)

God loved the world so much that he sent His son to die for us. He suffered in the most dreadful way! Great suffering. There is no other suffering in the word of GOD that could compare to the one His one and only son lived Himself. Jesus came down to this world not to be above us, but identifying Himself to be as human as we are.

Is this enough proof of the love God has for us? Now ask yourself, where does your love for our Savior stand? Have you really loved Him all along? Does your love for Christ bear any comparison to the love He has for you?

How is it that you demonstrate your love towards Him? How many of the twenty four hours of your day belong to your Creator? If none is your answer, then there are definitely some changes we have to make! Of those same 24 hrs, in how many of them are you in God’s eyes? God watches over you every single second, minute and hour. He is with us 24/7 and sometimes we don’t realize it. God’s love is so profound He never forgets to give us the time we DON’T deserve.

What more of a proof do we need?

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8)

And I ask you again, are you really in love with our Savior?

Let’s love God, like He first loved us. Our love for God is to be total and all inclusive, a wholehearted, life-encompassing, community impacting, exclusive commitment to our God.

The only thing God wants from us is to believe in Him. As you start believing in Him, you will slowly fall in love with your creator.

To truly love, we must first know God. Love starts with God and ends with God because God is love.

When to draw the line?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you were expected to respond with a yes?  Have you found yourself forced to make the choice you made? Were you conscious of the consequences that you had to face afterwards?

I have.

A few months ago I found myself in a very dark place. A place where I knew I didn’t belong, I knew exactly what I was saying yes to, and yet I made the decision to put myself in that situation. Conscience-stricken, I kept myself in that place for almost a year. What was exactly this dark place? The world’s darkest entertainments, where I was exposed to unhealthy substances. A place where it seemed I was suffering of amnesia; I lacked morality, my responsibilities and priorities were put aside; It was a  place where I was surrounded by harmful influences; I had fallen into the deepest and darkness stage of my life. I had become a victim of the destructive world we live in.

YES I made mistakes, YES I knew what I was doing at the moment, YES I was clearly aware of the consequences and still made the wrong choices!  I was blinded by this world’s distractions. All the while, God was talking to me, and I refused to listen. While He tried to draw my attention, I walked away.

But even then he never let go of my hand.

I had the wrong focus. It was this focus that took me to make the wrong choices, thereby falling into the overwhelming darkness of depression, and isolation, and to getting nothing in return. And, let me tell you; it wasn’t worth my time, effort, nor was it worth losing the real purpose and priorities in my life.

Where do I want to take you with this? How do we decide where to draw the line?

If you are currently living with no purpose, it’s time to draw the line. If your actions are taking you to failures, it’s time to draw the line. If you’ve made the wrong choices, if you’ve made mistakes, it’s not the end of the world. It’s not too late, yet! But it is time to draw the line.

Let yourself be pulled by  Jesus!  Let Him advise you, let Him approach you, let Him fill your life with real comfort, true contentment, and tranquility. Let Him guide you so you know what really matters.

Shut the door to distractions. Pursue a better life, a life that will fill you up with a real purpose away from this dark world.
